Tests on 67 cattle where new BSE case was found in Alberta: CFIA

Investigators have found 67 cattle that were born on the Alberta farm within a year of the latest cow that tested positive for BSE.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says the cattle will now be euthanized and tested to determine if they show signs of mad cow disease. The CFIA says the affected cow had two recently born calves. One tested negative for BSE earlier this week and the trace-out of the 2004 calf is on-going.

Earlier this week tests on 25 cattle from the farm came back negative.

On Monday, the CFIA said bovine spongiform encephalopathy was found in the cow that was born after a 1997 ban on giving cattle feed made from other animals
